Lottery Winner Keeps Jackpot News From His Wife

by Laura De Giorgio on July 21, 2011

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A man from Greenwood who won $200,000 playing the South Carolina Education Lottery didn’t quite believe his good fortune.  He didn’t want to make his name public and didn’t tell about his win anyone, not even his wife.

“I’m going to tell her,” the winner said. “I want to make sure it’s real first.”

He plans to surprise his wife with paid bills.

He scratched the $200,000 Cash instant ticket, at a stop light, while alone in his car.  In disbelief, he reached for his glasses.

“I was jumping up and down on the inside,” he said.

Three top prizes of $200,000 are still on the table in the ten dollar $200,000 Cash game, lottery officials said.
